Javelin Plastics achieves ISO/TS 16949:2009 accreditation

South East based plastic injection moulding manufacturer Javelin Plastics is celebrating over 30 years in business with the recent awarding of ISO/TS 16949:2009, the global standard for the automotive sector.

Since its launch back in the mid 1980’s Javelin Plastics has experienced significant growth across a number of market sectors, including automotive.

The automotive sector is hugely competitive and for any business to succeed and grow within it the highest standards need to be achieved consistently.

By securing this prestigious award Javelin Plastics has demonstrated it has the capability and experience to work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, “commented” Shaun Champion, Sales Director at Javelin Plastics.

Javelin Plastics has operated under ISO 9001 since 1997 supplying a wide range of market sectors, including safety critical, electronic and white goods.

Further growth is expected, with sales forecast to increase by 10% over the next 12 months.

“Javelin has new Management structure to support future growth”

Lee Reading, Managing Director of Javelin Plastics was pleased to announce this week; Shaun Champion and Simon Pepper will join the Board. Champion will take up the post of Sales Director and Pepper will become Technical Director. Reading said there was a need to strengthen the senior management team, after Mike Crowe deputy MD left the business at the end of 2015 to pursue a new career path. This combined with our clear focus on further improving customer service levels, whilst not losing sight of our 2016 aggressive growth plans, creates an exciting challenge for our new Senior Management Team.

Champion and Pepper who are both considered experts within their fields have over 25 years’ experience within the Plastics Industry. This ensures Javelin Plastics moves into 2016 with a strong management team in place, to drive the business forward.

“Javelin secure cash injection, off the back of strong sales growth in 2015”

Lee Reading, Managing Director of Javelin Plastics was pleased to announce this week; new funding had been secured to support the next phase of the Javelin’s aggressive 5 year business plan. Funding from a leading UK investment company specialising in British Manufacturing will play a big part in helping Javelin continue on its journey of growth.

In the last 12 months Javelin has secured new projects worth well over a £1m, this combined with growth from some of their existing key accounts has made 2015 an exciting year for the team at Javelin.

Considerable investment in new capital equipment to support further expansion has already been made in 2015. Recent purchases include 2 and 6 head pad printers, a number of ultrasonic welding machines and robotics.

Javelin’s focus on a number of key market sectors including Safety Critical, White Goods and Automotive is starting to pay off. This new investment is enabling Javelin to add real value to mouldings which are being produced 24/7 at their Camberley site. Javelin truly offers its customers a complete solution to their plastic needs.

Not content with standing still, the Team at Javelin is striving to achieve TS 16949 and ISO 13485 within the next 12 months.

A white room has also been built to ensure current and future customer needs can be met.

Project Zeus achieves £140k Target within 6 months of its launch. Shaun Champion said this is a fantastic result and all Staff will be rewarded by receiving an extra two days annual holiday in 2015.

Keith Newhouse joins the team at Javelin to head up the Quality department

Keith has worked in the automotive industry for the last thirteen years, spending the last 5 as the quality manager for a foundry on the Isle of Wight, supplying hot end turbo charger wheels. Along with supplier development and internal improvement projects, previous roles have had a high degree customer interaction. Automotive clients included Volkswagen, Daimler, BorgWarner, Cummins, Honeywell and Continental amongst others.

Keith has worked with TS 16949, developing and implementing quality management systems to be compliant to the requirements for the past 8 years. The majority of his quality based training has been completed with the Society of Motor Manufactures and Traders including lead auditor, and core tools qualifications.

Shaun Champion joins Javelin Plastics.

Shaun will be responsible for Managing Sales and Marketing activities for Javelin Plastics.

Shaun started his career qualifying as an injection mould toolmaker, and went on to gain further professional qualifications whilst working for LINPAC Mouldings where he held a number of senior management, sales and technical positions.

His particular interest is in product innovation for which he won the PRW design award for development of the Marley roof vent tile, in use by many key house builders today.

Shaun has successfully won and handled major accounts in the industry, including work for clients whose needs required multi-process solutions covering injection, rotational, blow moulding and vacuum forming.

He is delighted to be able to offer Javelin Plastics customers industry expertise across many different sectors and enjoys the challenge of meeting the ever-changing needs of customers which feed his enthusiasm for continuing product and process innovation.
